Most Smart phones has GPS built in these days. Someone argue that for indoor environment WiFi signal is more accurate than GPS (no reception or poor reception). It would be nice to make it into a differential GPS to send correction beacon for indoor portable devices.
Here is the basic concept of DGPS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Differential_GPS
This is for indoor short range application where each of the BLE tag is calibrated precisely. If there is no actual GPS signal but you can get beacon from 3 or more DGPS tag, you can still triangulate your location in the mall. Built in this feature to WiFi AP might be eventual solution but for places where WiFi is not covered due to security issue (such as hospital), this might be a good solution to direct staff and visitor to the right place with BLE enabled smart phone or ipod-like device.
