大眾電信跳票千萬 董事長籲銀行勿雨天收

吳清源分析，大眾電信資金發生缺口，最主要的原因就是銀行在一年半內緊縮了新台幣14億元的資金，原因是大眾電信向銀行 融資有不少錢做網路的擴充，又加上經濟低迷，和花了新台幣7億元進行WIMAX的建置，才造成資金相當緊；加上大眾電信前年及去年都虧損，才讓銀行對大眾 電信資金進行緊縮，因此吳清源也忍不住呼籲銀行，切勿對大眾電信雨天收傘。

WiMAX is a good technology but it does not mean it will be successful commercially. The question has always been where is the "killer app"? Iphone and Blackberry answer part of this question about the need for 3G (10 years after all technical standards are done). Consumer do not have interested in technology but how much it cost and what can they use it for? Sprint/ClearWire spent upward of 7 Billion USD on their WiMAX project so 700 million NT is really a small potato. This reminds me of the MOT/Iridium project 20 years ago which doomed several Taiwanese companies who participated it. I hope they've learned something from that experience. For PHS vendor I think WiMAX is the correct evolutional step. It is just a matter of timing.

As for feeding the poor, that is charity not what the enterprise is in for. Yes, it take faith to build a successful bussiness. Something scale like WiMAX could burn through more than 10 Billions before you see a real dime. I am glad Intel and others are footing the bill and help the economy/jobs ;)

Business never build on Faith. If your business is build on Faith you will have big problem like Abraham. And you also right we have to count on people like intel to push the technology forward. But the problem is "Do we really need that ?" 3G never take off in taiwan. People shift to 3G because they don't sale GSM hahaha.
Your expression of "Matter of Time" sound like Mr.Ma hahahahaha.

You can build small-medium size business by your own vision and effort. But large business with sustainable impact on the society always has an element of faith. The faith is not on the CEO or the president but on the business system and a sound idea. A frequently used example in business school is Walt-Disney World in Floria. Walt had a dream and his faith in his dream carry his entertainment empire even after his death. Some ill-conceived "dream" may fail just like the Iridium system quoted in my previous response.

Mr. Ma also has a dream, that dream is not "633" but to unite Taiwan with China. He just use "633" to get elected. So "it's a matter of time" does not apply to his promise of "633" but his hidden goal of letting Taiwan annexed by China.

If Taiwanese has no faith in their own country (Republic of Taiwan), it would get annexed by others , China, Japan or US just like the business take over in the commercial world. South Ossetia of Georgia is a live example that is still an on going saga.

你誤會Dream & Faith.
Dream -->看的見也知道會成功只要 $$+Time+Work.
Faith -->I don't know what will going to be.
我之所以說她們是Faith而不是Dream 是因為她們作的事不知道根據哪邊來的看法遠見(我認為是幻覺)
當然啦 你可以說夢想和幻覺不過是類似 不過反正When the time come. We will see.
Faith is different. Heaven is Faith. God is Faith.

而我認為她們是把Business建立在Faith上而不是Dream. If it is a dream. That is a very bad Dream hahaha.當然啦事後論英雄也沒用 不過我本來就反對WiMax 那不過是 Policis. 因為那些人在Wireless world沒地盤 就跟中國的SuperDVD or any other stupid specification.

Have faith in your dreams. Faith is not a word used exclusively to religion. A dream will never be achieved without faith in yourself, the system and the goal. We used to think Bluetooth is dead, 3G is dead, ADSL is dead, xPON is dead, Mac is dead,... WiMAX is dead, but they all eventually enjoy some level of success. I think you are mixing the religious faith with the "faith" in the technology and business.

Bluetooth is Live because is so Cheap. 3G is because no Operator invest in GSM anymore. I never say ADSL will dead. We say CableModem will dead. We say MOD will dead. I say LCD will dead because I feel sorry for all these LCD user has to accept the bad qaulity of image. But I buy LCD stock until know. We say it will dead means "It is not worth my $$ to try your technology"
Mac will dead if it don't have OS X and Switch to Intel. Sure all technolgy survived in specific area. But don't say it will rule the world.(most technology people say that when they think their technology). Be Realistic and Have Faith.
I think have faith in your research is a very good thing. Because without that we won't have Transistor or Vaccine...
But ADSL and WiMax don't need Faith to know its impact on the society. Because they are all Technology not Science.
