First you need a database of ISBN to audio books lookup. US library of congress only have books scan as books are not always readible. Machine translation is still bad so I think this is only feasible for the kids section of a library. But I also think this concept (scanning bar code to receive audio book/instruction) can be used in gallery and museum self-guided tours. The current number punching method is pretty outdated. Why not use RFID as you approach some books, objects an introduction will start playing for you and see if you want to know more about it.

Sure. RFID is cool. But all book got ISBN that is much easy to apply to present books

The question is the cost of a bar code scanner vs a RFID reader. Over time, I think RFID would be a better solution for kids. The auto checkout bar code scanner in the US shopping centers is not exactly a hit due to trouble to find the code and failure frequency of the scanner/tags.

CCD Camera + Software is a lot cheaper then the cost to ask different book company to add an RFID on the book. Beacause RFID is political problem and CCD Camera is technology problem.
